Basic fv430 family.

For our first instalment for our variants section, we thought it might be a good idea to recap which fv430 is which. Although the fv430 family has been around for nearly 50 years and can be seen in many guises, the basic vehicle is fairly standard. Apart from some specialist conversions and modifications, the fv430 family is the box on tracks shape, with most being based on the "standard" fv432 variant, hence probably why when refering to the whole family they are collectively known as fv432s. Other than prototypes fv430 and fv431, which never went into production, the next variant on the list are the fv432, which are the main bulk of vehicles. Although most other versions are still based on the fv432 hull, as in fv436, fv438, and fv439. The fv434, apart from the rear compartment is again very similar to the fv432. But it is the fv433 which is the most different, not just because of the turret, but has a completely different hull, and power pack arrangement! With this in mind, one fv430 can look like another as you can see here in this selection.............

Now that we know our mk1s from our mk3s, join us in issue 2 when we have a more indepth look at the fv432 mk1. But before then, click next below to carry on getting to know a bit about the fv432.
